KOTA KINABALU, 13 Jun 2011: Sabah will no longer be a Barisan Nasional (BN) 'fixed deposit' after the coming 13th General Election, said Datuk Yong Teck Lee, President of the opposition Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).
Speaking at the Parents' Night organized by SAPP held at a leading Chinese seafood restaurant here on Saturday, Yong thus reiterated that SAPP is prepared to cooperate with the other opposition parties in Sabah to effectively break-up the BN hegemony in the state, in the next General Election.

KOTA KINABALU, May 20, 2011: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Deputy President Haji Amde Sidek is worried that race and religion have been made used to stir up people sentiment from time and time again by politicians.

"This is very disturbing political trend in the country," he said.

"We in SAPP must say it loud and clear; we totally disagree and abhor with the way of new trend of politicking taking shape in the country and must not be imported to Sabah.

"Malaysians in Sabah don’t find it amusing being not used to it, brandishing hatred of others’ races and religions.

Tenom, Mac 23, 2011: NAIB Presiden Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP), Jimmy Jawatah mengalu-alukan kesediaan kerajaan Sabah sepertimana yang ditegaskan Ketua Menteri Sabah, Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman baru-baru ini.

Dalam kenyataannya, Musa berkata bahawa beliau akan mengkaji dan meneliti kawasan tanah adat (NCR) yang termasuk dalam kawasan Hutan Simpan kerana Jimmy mengharapkan agar kajian itu menjurus kepada kelulusan untuk menempatkan perkampungan penduduk asal.

Katanya, keputusan Mahkamah Tinggi baru-baru ini berhubung kes pencerobohan Hutan Simpan Imahit yang membebaskan 6 penduduk Kuala Tomani dari tuduhan itu membuktikan bahawa hak asasi rakyat terhadap tanah NCR tetap utuh.

"Sungguhpun begitu, kita minta kerajaan agar terus mengazetkan mana-mana kawasan tanah NCR itu yang dikeluarkan dari kawasan Hutan Simpan supaya penduduk di kawasan terbabit tidak lagi merasa tergugat kedudukan mereka," kata beliau lagi.

Jimmy yang juga Pengerusi CLC, SAPP Tenom berkata demikian ketika melancarkan jentera pilihanraya bagi Dun Melalap, Kemabong dan Parlimen Tenom di Pejabat Perhubungan parti itu di Tenom sebagai persiapan menghadapi pilihanraya umum kali ke-13 (PRU13) yang akan diadakan dalam masa terdekat ini.

Beliau menegaskan bahawa masalah tanah NCR yang berada di kawasan Hutan Simpan sepatutnya pihak kerajaan negeri sudah menyelesaikan masalah tersebut lebih awal lagi jika pihak terbabit termasuk wakil rakyat berkenaan melakukan kajian yang serius berhubung perkara itu berdasarkan peruntukan undang-undang yang sedia ada.

Dalam pada itu, ketika ditanya berhubung cadangan Presiden Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Dato’ Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail mengenai pemberian status kerakyatan ‘Penduduk Tetap’ (PR) tetapi tiada hak mengundi dalam pilihanraya kepada PATI sepertimana tercatat dalam ‘Buku Jingga’ parti itu Jimmy berkata;

"Kepimpinan SAPP menentang dasar itu dan ia suatu cadangan yang tidak relevan dalam keadaan sekarang. Sedangkan kita (SAPP) bertungkus lumus mendesak kerajaan mengusir PATI selain mengadakan kempen memungut tandatangan mendesak kerajaan menubuhkan Suruhanjaya Siasatan DiRaja (RCI) bagi menyiasat pemberian kad pengenalan dan kerakyatan kepada PATI," tegas Jimmy.

Tegasnya, kepimpinan SAPP memandang serius masalah kebanjiran PATI di Sabah yang dianggarkan kira-kira 600,000 dikesan memiliki dokumen sah seperti kad pengenalan dan kerakyatan negara ini.

Speaker receives proclamation of dissolution signed by Yang di-Pertua Negeri

KUCHING: The Sarawak state assembly was dissolved on Monday, paving the way for the 10th state election.

Speaker Datuk Seri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar told a news conference here that the proclamation of the dissolution, signed by Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng, was received this morning.

He said that the notice of dissolution would be handed over to Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof on Tuesday.

The EC is expected to meet here on Wednesday to decide on the dates for the nomination and polling.

Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud announced on Saturday that the state assembly would be dissolved Monday.

The Barisan Nasional has been in control of 63 of the 71 seats in the assembly since Engkilili assemblyman Dr Jonical Rayong Ngipa, who contested on an opposition Sarawak National Party ticket in the last state election on May 20, 2006, joined the Barisan last year.

Tawau, March 17, 2011: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Vice President, Datuk Chua Soon Bui, said it is really shocking that the UMNO Youth from Sabah has taken such a step to lodge a police report against Tan Sri Simon Sipaun (ex-Vice chairman from SUHAKAM, also an ex-state secretary) for his comment at the Inter-party dialogue and leadership seminar. "Many of the long overdue untold truth were revealed at the seminar which a lot of people especially the younger generations are not aware of.

"The truth hurts and the truth is always painful to the ears for some. It is sheer ignorance and arrogance that information on the formation of Malaysia, the Malaysia agreement, the consequential relationship between the federal and state authorities, the Rights of Sabah and Sarawak within the federation, the changes in the civil society related to racial polarization, threatening of illegal immigrations (Source:jayzap2008.wordpress.com in 2008), citizenship given to dubious people, were denied. Such information shields lights on the erosion of our rights, strategy for the future development of Sabah and in the best interest of the people in Sabah," Chua stressed.

"Despite of the many years of appeal from Sabah on the recognition of 16th September 1963 as the birth of Malaysia, it was only last year, 47 years later, that government has fully recognized, publicized on such important part of the history. History should not be distorted and should be accurate said Tan Sri Simon Sipaun.

"I have known Tan Sri Simon Sipaun for some years especially when he was in Suhakam and have been in contact on the issues on illegal immigrants and Native Customary Rights on natives land. He is the only one from Suhakam who took so much pain and hard work to research, to go to the ground especially the very rural villages to investigate such issues that are unjust to the people of Sabah, where a lot of politicians had not even visited. All these had spoken volumes in themselves, and I know none others who are more knowledgeable and brave enough to talk about this subject matter, credit should be given. The final recognition will come from the people of Sabah, and in the form of votes.

"Malaysians in Sabah should also take hints from the Prime Minister that Sabah and Sarawak are the fixed deposit of the BN government of today. Isn't it time for Malaysians in Sabah to voice out our concerns on the sufferings of the people in the poorest state in Malaysia but is rich in resources, the unfair development and inequitable sharing of wealth, the threatening of illegal immigrants, the Cabbotage policies, the employment opportunities and many many more. It is the window of opportunity that the people of Sabah are made aware of all these facts ,wthether the government is sincerely dealing with the difficulties faced by the people or rather turning a deaf ear, or report to the police to seek an easy way out politically. She said please don't insult the intelligence of the people in Sabah.

Chua further urged the people to understand and discover this potentials of these opportunities. She said, "IT IS MORE THAN SABAH THAT WE CHOOSE TO SEE, IT IS SABAH AS HOW WE CHOOSE TO MOULD IT", and she has made that choice.

蔡順梅: 西門西豹揭真相


2011-03-17(本報訊)斗湖區國會議員拿督蔡順梅指出，前人權委員會委員丹斯里西門西豹揭開許多隐藏已久的真相，正是可以保護沙巴人民權利、沙巴未來發展策略，以及確保沙巴人民的利益免受蚕食的資訊。

她說，這些有關馬來西亞成立的資訊，如馬來西亞協議、聯邦與州政府的關系、沙巴與砂拉越在聯邦内的權利、公民社會因種族比例而改变、非法移民的威脅、批准公民權予可疑者等全盤被否决，是一種無知與傲慢的做法。

“這些資訊都是許多人，尤其是年輕一代所不了解的真相…我知道，真相總是傷人，甚至也對一些人來說，總是刺耳的！”

也是沙巴進步黨副主席的蔡順梅是針對西門日前在跨黨派對話和領袖研討會上揭開有許多隐藏已久的真相言論，於昨日發表文告這麼置評。她也對西門所發表的這一席話，竟遭到沙巴巫青團報警對付而感到非常震驚。

她同時表示，雖然沙巴在過去多年來一直要求把1963年9月16日公認為馬來西亞的誕生日，但是直到47年後的去年，政府才正式承認這個歷史的重要一頁，正如西門所言，歷史不應被扭曲，歷史應該是正確的。

她說，她認識西門多年，尤其是當對方在人權委員會時，彼等經常聯系討論非法移民和原住民習俗地的權利等課題。

Kota Kinabalu, March 6, 2011: The Inter-Party Dialogue to discuss issues on Sabah's autonomy and Borneonisation organised by the United Borneo Front (UBF) here yesterday received a cold response from Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties.

As expected none of the eight coalition members, namely the national-based UMNO, MIC, MCA and Gerakan and State-based UPKO, PBS, PBRS and LDP turned up at the event despite having been invited.

The dialogue, however, was attended by scores of state opposition leaders from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).

Their presence at the inter-party dialogue cum leadership seminar reflected their parties' support to the UBF and its Borneo Agenda and Borneo Alliance objectives.

SAPP President, Datuk Yong Teck Lee, even presented a talk on the special rights, autonomy and equal partnership status between Sabah and the Federal Government.

The former chief minister was accompanied by several of his senior party members including deputy president and Likas Assemblyman Datuk Liew Teck Chan, Wanita Chief Melanie Chia, secretary-general Datuk Richard Yong and information chief Chong Pit Fah.

In a press conference at the end of the dialogue, Yong together with PKR Kota Kinabalu chairperson Christina Liew said they were open to working with any individuals or organisations that share the same objectives with their parties, that is, to gain autonomy and a more balanced relation with the Federal Government.

Both have also said that all of the objectives the UBF highlighted under its Borneo Agenda and Borneo Alliance are similar, if not the same, with some of the main agendas of their parties.

Yong earlier said that the shift in political balance following the 2008 general election, which has resulted in the Federal Government needing Sabah and Sarawak in order to maintain control of the Federal Government, has opened up an unprecedented window of opportunity for the State to achieve true autonomy.

Meanwhile, Christina said it was more crucial than ever before for all non-government organisations and political parties in Sabah to unite together and maximise their strengths to effectively seize the opportunity to topple the government.

2011-03-06亞洲時報（亞庇五日訊）只要大家團結一致和握有自主權，沙巴進步黨主席拿督楊德利相信捍衛沙巴及砂拉越自主權的 “婆羅洲議程”目標，是可取得成功的。

他是昨日在亞庇出席由拿督傑菲里吉丁岸領導的婆羅洲聯合陣線所主辦的「了解婆羅洲聯合陣線、婆羅洲議程和婆羅洲聯盟」對話會上，這麼表示。

楊德利是在這場並沒有太多反對黨人士出席的對話會上，主講有關本州特權、自主權與平等伙伴。

婆羅洲議程的目的，是捍衛所謂的廿條款中，聞沙砂的公共服務領域要職應由沙砂人出任，因為只有自己人才能／會捍衛自家的行政權力。

他並表示，現在本州與聯邦的權力均衡與關係不變，是本州難得的「機會窗口」。 以前本州和砂拉越需得到聯邦的支持才能執政，但現在卻是聯邦需獲得沙砂兩州的支持才能執掌國家。

他說：「這種權力均衡已發生變化，東馬兩州與聯邦的關係已不均等，現在的問題是本州的政黨和非政府組織該如何做？」

2011-03-06亞洲時報（亞庇五日訊）沙巴進步黨主席拿督楊德利認為，本州人民可以透過法律訴訟來爭取本州所應有的權利及主權。

他指出，過去州政府曾驅逐一位著名印裔律師，遭後者提出訴訟至聯邦法庭，但最終法庭判決州政府擁有絕對的權力。

有鑒於此，他表示，可以把案件呈至國內法庭或倫敦國際法庭。

他說：「可見，在這方面的案例下，已闡明了州政府的主權，所以要取回加入馬來西亞的權益（廿條款）是有可能的。」

也是前首席部長的他，是昨日在亞庇舉辦的「了解婆羅洲聯合陣線、婆羅洲議程和婆羅洲聯盟」對話會上發表講話時，這麼表示。

這項由甫退出公正黨的拿督傑菲里吉丁岸所成立的婆羅洲聯合陣線所主辦的對話會，邀請朝野政黨提呈有關婆羅洲自主權的提議及看法，但現場僅得反對黨的人仕參與其盛而己。

無論如何，楊德利聲稱，倘若要集體爭取沙巴權益，沙巴人民首先要放下種族情意結，拋開不同政黨及宗教信仰的身份，不分彼此而朝著這個目標邁進。

此外，他說：「從非法移民的課題來看，是否會發現巫統，公正黨及回教黨領袖都不願多談？尤其是回教徒領袖不願涉及這個課題，這都是有各自的動機。」

他也在回憶起當年擔任首長時，稱曾不允許一名印裔律師居留在本州，結果該律師採取訴訟，在州內法庭尋求不果後也鬧上聯邦法庭。

With a looming election, political maverick Dr Jeffrey Kitingan is in a rush to consolidate his place in Sabah politics.

KOTA KINABALU: In a bid to bolster his own position as champion of state rights and Sabah autonomy, United Borneo Front (UBF) leader, Jeffrey Kitingan, is organising a ground-breaking inter-party dialogue on Sabah problems.
The dialogue, which is open to participants from both sides of the political divide, also aims to promote UBF’s Borneo Agenda for a freer and autonomous Sabah and Sarawak.
Slightly more than three hours have been allocated for open discussion during the seminar, scheduled for March 5, which the organisers hope will pave the way for inter-party dialogue.
Organising chairman, Guandee Kohoi, confirmed that invitations had been sent out to political parties in Sabah, but so far only opposition party Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) had confirmed sending a 15-member delegation.
SAPP president Yong Teck Lee, a lawyer, would present a paper on “State-federal relationship and state autonomy”.
SAPP deputy president, Amde Sidek, will also be a panellist.
The other panellists include social activist and author of “Lest We Forget”, Dr Chong Eng Leong, and the two co-founders of UBF, lawyer Nilakrishna James and economist Zainal Ajamain.
Jeffrey, who quit PKR two months ago, and is said to be ready to form or join a political party this month, will present a paper on “A way forward for Malaysia”.
Meanwhile, Sarawak National Party (SNAP) president, Edwin Dundang, who was initially slated to present a paper on “Sarawak’s experience on state-federal relationship”, has indicated that he might not able to make it due to the impending state election.
According to Guandee, there will be about 150 participants from various districts and backgrounds. But it is understood that they will mostly be supporters of UBF’s Borneo Agenda.
Component members of the ruling Barisan Nasonal (BN) like PBS, Upko, PBRS, LDP and Umno have all been invited to send officials to the dialogue along with PKR and DAP.
Also included are smaller parties like Sabah People’s Front (SPF), and Setia, the party many believe Jeffrey has targeted as his political vehicle.

SAPP has always been prepared to sit down with other opposition political leaders in the State, no question about it so long as the agenda is to topple the present state government in Sabah.

While at the Federal level, SAPP leaders are supporting all out federal based opposition. It should be better that way, clear division of labour.

For those who are wary and worry should SAPP get a simple majority to form a government, the situation is no better than during PBS government where PBS was whacked left and right, in the end resorted to joining BN; in my view, the scenario is no longer the same. We are in different era.

For shorter explanation, Federal leaders need Sabah and Sarawak more to form the federal government.

Forty-eight years ago it was just the opposite where Sabah and Sarawak had given freely nearly all their parliamentary seats to enable BN to form Federal government.

Today if only Sabah and Sarawak voters open their eyes beyond the zincs, blue water tank and other forms of bribes, situation could be different. Sabah and Sarawak could have minimized the bullying game by the BN leaders.

Why are we being ignored and even called a fixed deposit? Largely because of our own ignorance and another is for monetary gains? I guarantee there is no real UMNO fighter in Sabah all are but because of the reasons I mentioned above. What have they to proof of their struggle in UMNO? USNO and UNKO, yes. Unfortunately our younger generation doesn't read this local history of ours anymore except UMNO.

For SAPP, the Chinese image has been shifting well into a multi-racial and multi-religious Sabah. Bumiputra membership of the party outnumbered other races.

Bumiputra leaders comprised about half of the total numbers of party's leaders, currently at the constituency level-Constituency Liaison Committee (CLC), Bumiputras are dominating leadership group.

For the first time in the history of the Party that it has a Muslim for Deputy President since it inception 18 eighteen years ago.

By constitution SAPP has always been a non-racial political party right from the beginning. SAPP doesn't practice quota system as many people think it is. Whilst some find the ideas of non-quota system is unfair while another find is the most appropriate. When asked why quota system isn't practiced after all Sabah has many racial groups?

I'm of the opinion that the selection should be based on ability to lead not because of race and plus connection. Second, we can't afford to be thinking everything and every time we've to focus our mind based on race and religion. If God wants Sabah to have only one religion, God could have done it long time ago. Every religious person says all races are equal but people made it unequal.

Political party based along racial line party, will one day find to have little followers. It simply is a divisive system, yet our leaders are talking about one Malaysia. Look around BN component political parties are but based along racial line.
Our young are actually no longer looking this way, but our leaders very many of them don't realize, see what we learn from Middle East.

Time has come that we have to chart our political destiny for Sabah and Sarawak and there is not shortcut and no easy way out surely not for faint-hearted leaders.

There is a choice now, those don't want to stay the same, support the opposition political parties and make them win in the General Election that would be my advice.

沙进步党主席杨德利指出，他没有后悔上阵巴都沙比国席补选，反之，这场补选后，让他更清楚知道国阵的战略。

「当初我们选候选人时，就有作出各种考量，最后由我亲自上阵，是因为我们要看看，国阵会如何攻击我们。只有我上阵，才可以看到最全面的攻势，我们才知道来届大选如何应战。」

他说，当初由他亲自出马，也希望能争取胜利，最后虽然落败，但也看清国阵的伎俩，以及对沙进步党的攻势。

对于离开了国阵的沙进步党，杨德利表示，在失去执政权力后，政府部门不再给面子沙进步党，处理问题时很多不方便。

「不过，我们依旧为民服务，按照一般程序向政府部门投诉。但事实上，我们获得更多人的支持，我们党员增加了30%，而他们都是在沙进步党下野后才加入。」

他表示，沙进步党与民联不同，雪州民联党员与日俱增，是因为他们在当地属执政党，沙进步党则是在成为反对党后，获得更多人支持。

「离开了国阵，我们庆幸不少党内领袖放弃官职，即人民发展官或市议员，而与我们同在，现在于党内的人们，都是愿意与我们同在的，也是不为权力的，因为大家讲的是原则，争取沙州自主权，不再成为吉隆坡的奴隶。」

沙州政局目前仍捉摸不清，尤其在野党，由于各自分散为多股力量，若来届大选未结合起来，依然难撼势力雄厚的沙州国阵。不过，其中一个在野党—沙巴进步党，则表明愿意与民联合作，以夺取沙州政权为大前提。

沙州在野党目前拥有至少三股力量，其一则是由行动党、回教党与公正党共同组成的民联，其二则是从沙州国阵脱离出来的沙巴进步党，第三股势力则是由公正党前全国副主席杰菲里吉丁岸组成的「婆罗洲团结阵线」。

来届大选，若在野党无法团结一致，将造成选举陷入多角混战，尤其在野党票数分散，这对在野党而言，可谓百害而无一利。而一旦陷入多角战，加上独立人士的搅局，民联也承认，来届大选要击败沙州国阵非常困难。

沙巴民联依赖行动党　与其他在野党合作难来自民联消息告知《辣手网》，目前沙巴民联以行动党最为稳定，而公正党由于内部矛盾不断，这使到该党在沙州的基层组织如同一盘散沙。

消息指称，来届大选，沙巴行动党将出战大部份选区，部份选区则交由公正党与回教党，尤其一些内陆与偏远地区，回教党的说服力较行动党大。

他强调，沙巴的命运应该交给沙巴政党，而不是西马政党，否则，利益与好处只会到西马，沙巴本身的发展却停滞不前。

沙州纵然两线制却依旧听命西马杨德利也指出，西马有望达到两线制，即两股不同的政治势力，并拥有两种不同的体系，然而，沙巴若由西马政党主宰，纵然一样存有两线制，但却只有一个体系，即向西马唯命是从的体系，由西马控制沙巴。

「因此，我们希望的是由沙州政党负责沙巴大马人的命运，而不是向吉隆坡为首的中央交待。」
