Ex-Suhakam chiefs set up Proham

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Suhakam commissioners have set up a new society, “Persatuan Promosi Hak Asasi Manusia” (Proham).

Tan Sri Simon Sipaun has been appointed Proham chairman and Prof Datuk Hamdan Adnan, the deputy.

Datuk Michael Yeoh, Datuk N. Siva Subramaniam and Datuk Dr Chiam Heng Keng are secretary, assistant secretary and treasurer, respectively.

Datuk Karam Chand Vohrah and Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria are committee members.

According to a Proham statement, the society would be officially launched on March 21.

This would be followed by a roundtable discussion on the United Nations Convention on elimination of racial discrimination, in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrim-ination.

The roundtable panel will be moderated by Yeoh, with Hamdan, Dr Chiam and Dr Denison as panel members.
